Several MSM outlets picked this story up, ensuring “Threaten” was to be used in every on of their headlines describing the President’s words. Politico’s misleading headline not only unfairly put President Trump in a bad light (what’s new), but it also dismissed the real issue of illegal immigration and any administrative plan to fix it. Yet, in almost every article, it is admitted that Mexico thought “The tone was constructive and it was agreed by the presidents to continue working and that the teams will continue to meet frequently to construct an agreement that is positive for Mexico and for the United States.”. Furthermore, from multiple segments of leadership/foreign relations, there was an understanding (on Mexico’s behalf) that Trump was not being threatening.
